The Israel Softball Association was established in 1979 by a group of immigrants from North and South America. The Israel Softball Association is a registered Non Profit Organization which is recognized by the Sports Authorities in Israel and is a member of “Ayelet” - the Israeli Association of Non-Olympic Competitive Sports. The activities conducted by the Israel Softball Association have assisted in the social integration of immigrants countrywide, and today its members also include many native Israelis.
The Association consists of 10 mens teams Divided into A Pool and B Pool, 3 womens teams,21 junior boys teams and 4 junior girls teams. The Israeli National Teams represent the country in European Championships and other International Competitions. The Israel Softball Association is constantly seeking to establish new teams, instill Israeli youth with love of the game, and increase the awareness of the general Israeli public of this sport. In our efforts to expand to have softball a commo sport amongst Israelis we have Ami baran and Adriana Luchansy working together to develop more junior programs. This is being implemeneted through the use of PE teachers and after school programs. There are already results of these efforts such as in the city of Modiin we have after school programs for 1st - 3rd graders (20 boys and girls) and girls 4th -7th graders (13 players ) The Modiin sport authorities have given support for the program and with the help of Mr. David Brief the program has been a success. We have also included in this development program the Coaches course through Wingate and Seminar Hakibuttzim in a joint venture with the Israel Association of Baseball. Some of our Athletes and softball people are currently finishing up the course and will be able to help witht expansion of softball throughout the country.
