The Israel Softball Association conducts an umpiring clinic on an annual basis, during the winter months. The clinic certifies new umpires and re-certifies experienced umpires. The training is conducted by Howie Litz, the supervising umpire of the ISA.
The course includes 5 classroom and field sessions with an examination at its conclusion.
Becoming an umpire is a gradual process, which allows advancement based on continuing evaluations and the desire of the individual umpire to advance. There are 5 umpires in the ISA who have completed the European Softball Federation’s (ESF) course, and are certified to umpire during European championships.
If you are interested in joining the ISA as an umpire, please contact Goose Gillett at 054-4614683. The course will be given during January/February, 2007 and is open to both men and women.
